Photo opportunities are to blame?
Probably did it so many times and no issue but sea conditions weren't favourable
It wasn't the same Captain from the Costa Concordia?

What a numpty. .. I used to be on the crew of Tower RNLI who cover the Thames..... that's definitely not a smart thing to do... the river is fast and that's a long drop from tower Bridge. ... I agree he should have been charged for wasting time.

Castletownbare RNLI rescued two fishermen this week. Well done lads.

Quote:Two fishermen rescued off Co Cork coast

Two men have been rescued from a life raft off the south coast of Co Cork.

The crew, who were on board a fishing vessel, made a distress call to Valentia Coastguard at around 4.45am and said they were taking to the life raft.

The Castletownbere lifeboat was tasked to the scene just south of Dursey Island off the coast of Cork, as well as the Shannon rescue helicopter.

Valentia Coastguard also put a call out to other vessels.

A merchant vessel, the Wilson Weber, arrived at the scene alongside the Castletownbere lifeboat. The two crew members were taken from the life raft and are said to be safe and well.

They have now arrived back on shore.

LÉ Orla also responded to the mayday call and is at the scene assessing the likelihood and level of any pollution.

Anybody watch Saving Lives at Sea on BBC1? Great show.
When you think about it, an unhinged ferris wheel rolling towards the sea, is just a windmill full of corpses.

Three people were rescued off the Wexford coast this afternoon after their 37-foot yacht got into difficulty.
The two men and a woman were on the yacht when it started taking on water in 10-foot swells off the Saltee Islands.
Their boat began to sink and they issued a mayday call after three o'clock.
The search and rescue helicopter from Waterford airport was on the scene within minutes, and managed to take the crew from the water. Kilmore Quay lifeboat also attended.
The three people were brought to Waterford airport and did not need to go to hospital.

Vid of Youghal RNLI rescuing a Kayaker that got into difficulty, in a falling tide, in cold waters. Estimated that he was in the water for 45+ minutes. Good result, and a lucky man.
