Its that time of year again, when we are getting ready for Christmas, family and Santa. Sadly not everyone will be looking forward with anticipation, instead simple hoping for food, warmth or a small present. Thankfully there are goups like 'Little Blue Heroes' and 'Barnados' out there. Both help the youngest and most vulnerable in society and this Christmas we ask that you join us in making a donation at https://www.littleblueheroes.org/donate/ or https://www.barnardos.ie/christmas

Quote:Police Officer Shot Dead On 999 Call Named

The Irish police officer who was shot dead while responding to a 999 call has been named as Anthony Golden.
The 36-year-old married father of three young children was killed while following up an emergency call about a "domestic" disturbance.
A woman was also seriously injured in the attack in the village of Omeath, County Louth, shortly after 6pm on Sunday.
The gunman was known to police as a suspected dissident republican who was facing charges before the Special Criminal Court.
The Irish Examiner said he fired a number of shots, hitting both the woman and the officer.
He is then believed to have taken his own life. Paramedics who attended the scene pronounced him dead.
Sky's David Blevins said: "He was responding to the shooting of a woman in a domestic dispute when he himself was fatally wounded.
"Police launched a full investigation. Forensic officers and the state pathologist have been examining the scene.
"It is not far from the Irish border. The gunman was known to police, on bail awaiting trial on dissident republican charges.
"He's understood to have taken his own life after shooting the woman and police officer."
Ireland's president Michael Higgins said: "I want to express my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the garda who has so tragically lost his life while responding to this incident."

From RTE.

Quote:Gardaí are investigating an incident in Co Louth this evening during which a member of the gardaí and at least one other person were shot dead.
It is understood the shootings took place after gardaí responded to a domestic dispute at a house on the Cooley Peninsula near Carlingford just after 6pm.
Members from Omeath Garda Station arrived at the scene, shots were fired and a garda was fatally injured. A second man was also shot dead during the incident.
The garda shot dead was a father of three, aged in his 30s.
It is understood a woman was also shot during the incident and has been taken to hospital where her condition is described as stable.
The scene has now been preserved pending a forensic examination and the arrival of a state pathologist.
