Ian "Frodo" McCormack DFB
After a long, courageous and dignified battle F/F/P Ian "Frodo" McCormack passed away in the early hours of this morning. Ian joined DFB in 2005 and served in HQ and Dolphins Barn stations where he quickly made many friends with his energy and humour. Unfortunately we weren't to have him long as he was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in 2013 and was given 3 short years to live, but boy did he LIVE them. His humour never left him, even a few short weeks ago he had a night with his work colleagues on the day he got his last treatment. His parting words " it's the best wake I was ever at" made his friends laugh and cry in equal measure. Ian will receive a DFB funeral with full honours early next week. His friends and colleagues in DFB and FDNY will never forget him. Ian leaves behind his wife Gemma and 3 beautiful young children.

Head on home young fella , you're covered.
We trained hard ... but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.

For some reason, rep isn't working for me.  Frodo was a gent, it's a tragic story alright.
