Garda van rammed and woman flung from car in high-speed chase in East Wall, Dublin

A criminal is in custody after he led Gardai on a highly dangerous high speed chase across Dublin, resulting in his female passenger being flung from the car as he tried to evade capture.

Around 12 squad cars, the armed support unit, and a chopper joined the chase after the man burst through a routine checkpoint on the Howth Road.

A woman was apparently thrown from the vehicle before the car drove right over a roundabout towards East Wall.

A source also told Dublin Live that a garda van was rammed during the pursuit.

The car was abandoned around Forth Road where gardai conducted a lockdown search.

The man was then found by a garda search dog and taken in.

The car was searched and it is understood that a quantity of drugs was recovered.

It is believed that a further search of the vehicle will be carried out by forensic experts.
